...About Bento #25

I have to say, this is the most Bento-ish looking bento I can pack, because of the partitions of the food. Most of my bentos look like any ordinary packed food. It's so blah looking compared to the other bento-ers bentos. They are mothers packing for their children. So it's all filled with cutesy stuff like animal shaped eggs, pink colored riceballs and all that stuff. For me, it's packing for myself, to be opened up and eaten among guys.

T_T

So go figure, this is as cute as I dare to pack it.

Close up!

From top left: spinach fried with garlic and oyster sauce, fried chicken marinated in worchester sauce and honey, the partition is made up of tamagoyaki with garlic and ginger. Bottom is white rice.

Used the same apple shaped box as in #24.

Happy Bento-ing!

...About Bento #24

Return of the Bentos!

Here's #24. Packed for breaking of fast.

Using a brand new bento box. Courtesy of my mom (as usual). Top tier, on the left, sliced apple and banana. Bottom tier, on the right, chicken rice. The claypot type, but not cooked in a claypot. If you know what I mean >_< Mango juice in the water tumbler.

The bottom tier of the box is pretty deep. Quite big a box.

Apple shaped Bento Box! :)

Happy Bento-ing!

...About Future Reads

A bookworm can never have/read enough books.

Some pictures are blurry due to the fact that I was trying to snap a pic as fast as possible without attracting the shopkeeper's attention >_<

And in case you were wondering, yes, I am trying to read all of Nicholas Sparks' books.

...About : sandRa Indonesia

Image from here

sandRa is a band from Indonesia. They're not signed to any label, they're indie, that's why you've probably never heard of them.

Prior to discovering this band's music, I never understood the fuss about Indonesian bands. I mean yes, the bands from there that has made it big are good, no doubts about that. I understand now that Indonesian bands rocks. But I would say, we should look at the bands as who they are,as unique individual bands, not from where they come from.

Having said that, I came across the band sandRa during the redAMP screen test (which quite a number of other Indonesian bands got shortlisted for, they're never short of talent that country) Don't ask me why they're called sandRa when they're a bunch of guys >_<  you can go read their profile on myspace or reverbnation. Or you can watch their screen test video, they answer that question in the video.

I watched their screen test, thought their song was nice. Managed to get their CD after that, listened to it, got hooked ever since. I started rooting for them since then. They made it to the top 10. During the voting period for the Top 3 finalist, their songs were constantly playing on my iTunes, looped >_< But sadly they did not make it to the finals :(

If you listen to their songs, you'd probably say, "Heh, they sound the same as the mainstream bands from Indonesia" See, that's the thing, they're just as good as the commercial mainstream bands. Maybe even better.

All I can say is, they make good music, they're unsigned, and I am officially a fan.

Owh yeah.

...About : Bruno Mars

Image from here
If Nicholas Sparks is the ultimate love story fiction writer, then Bruno Mars is the ultimate love song crooner. To me lar.

When I first heard Bruno Mars sing, in the song 'Nothing on You', by B.O.B. I melted I tell youuuuu. I don't know if he was actually the one who wrote the lyrics or not, but that voice, singing those words. Dayum.

Image from here

He's nothing much to look at mind you. He's not ugly, neither is he drop dead gorgeous. He's decent looking. But his voice, and the songs he sing. The lyrics. OH MY GAWD. Damn nice weih.

"Beautiful girls, all over the world, I could be chasing but my time would be wasted, cos they got nothing on you" What?! If I was single, and someone who was courting my says that to me, I'd fall for it, hook, line and sinker man. (provided that this song doesn't exist lar)

Image from here

From his first single ,'Just The Way You Are'."When you smile, the whole world stops and stares for a while. Cos girl you're amazing, just the way you are." o_O

I'm going off to listen to it on loop okbaiz.

...About : The Time of The Year Again

It's the time of the year again.
The time of the year that annoys me the most.
The time of the year when people will start asking questions that annoy me.
Questions which I find silly.
Questions that they don't need to know the answers to anyways.
Questions that can be left unasked, and life will go on perfectly fine.

When I don't like to answer their questions, they'll think I'm weird.
Then they'll start asking more questions.
They don't get why I don't like to answer those questions.

Well, you don't have to understand.
Just accept it, and don't ask anymore questions.

I got so sick of it last year,
I started giving different answers to the same question asked by different people.

So please.
DON'T - ASK - ME - ANYTHING - ABOUT -THAT- TIME - OF - THE - YEAR.

Thank you for your kind co-operation.

...About : Dear John by Nicholas Sparks

pic from here
For this title, I actually watched the movie first before reading the book. Only because I had access to the movie first. If you watched the movie but have yet to read the book, trust me go read the book.

pic from here
I'm not saying the book is better than the movie (which is usually the case) but this time,I feel that the movie AND the book were equally good. Both good in their own way.

They have different endings. Totaly different. Like, total opposite. The movie's ending was sweet, and kind off predictable. But the book, the ending is so so so heart breaking.

I noticed that the sequence of the significant events in the book has been rearranged in the movie. But it still delivered the message and impact the story intended.

I think the casting for the movie was perfect. I just love Amanda Seyfried. She's pretty in an unconventional way, and not stick thin skinny. She has a body type many girls can relate to. And Channing Tatum - HOT. 'nuff said.

Nicholas Sparks, to me, is the ultimate tear-jerking-love-story writer.Seriously. I am soooo collecting all his books.

Go read the book! Or if you hate reading, get the movie and watch it.

Box of tissues on standby please, don't say I didn't warn ya!

...About: 100 Yen Shop, Kota Kemuning.

Never mind the question of what was I doing in Kota Kemuning. I was just so excited to see one! Haven't visited one in a long time. My girlfriend Brenda, a 100 yen shop virign was with me at the time.  So we went together.

If you've never been to one, well here's a journey of discovery for you!

This branch has the shaved ice kiosk. (I noticed, most of the branches have it now)

The name of the shop itself screams japanese. So, expect a lot of cute, weird, what-the-hell-i-never-thought-of-that kind of stuff.

The have food stuff, candy, and snacks.

Look at the can of Pepsi, is a 500ml can. Next time I shall buy some. If people ask me where I bought it from, I shall say Japan >_<

Cute stuff! Stickers, paper clips, magnets.

This is a new find for me....

Cute portable speakers! In the shape of love and frog! How cute can it get? I was going to buy the froggy one, but when I tested it, my iPod touch's built in speaker was actually louder. Bummer. So, yeah, did not buy it.

Then let's not forget, the Bento stuff!!! Every Bento enthusiast in Malaysia depends on 100 yen shop for their supply of Bento boxes, tools, and accessories.

Then usual standard Bento boxes.

These comes with elastic bands.

Metal container with plastic lids.

Chocolate Bento box!

So if you happen to visit a 100 yen shop that sells the 'Snow Ice'. Do have a bowl. It's delish. It's basically flavoured ice shavings.

It says 'non fattening' So indulge!

We had mango.
So, til the next post, Sayonara!

All pictures taken from Brenda.
