...About Linkin Park Living Things World Tour Concert
At this time yesterday, I was at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium waiting for Linkin Park to get on stage. They rocked the stage so hard from the moment they stepped onto the stage til they stepped off the stage about an hour and a half later.
AH-MAY-ZING vocals, arrangement, rapping and showmanship. Although the sound system left a bit more to be desired, their performances were flawless. They hardly took any breaks in between each song. It was like listening to their cd, perfect vocals, awesome music, end of song, fade out, then next song. OWHMAIGAWD. AWESOME.
They sang about 4 to 5 songs before stopping and have a lil chat then got right back to performing. In the middle of the concert they took a super short break, less than 5 minutes then continued rocking til the end.
Imagine this, they opened with "Faint" and ended with "Bleed It Out". HOW AWESOME IS THAT!!
FAST PACED ROCKING ALL THE WAY!
1 and a half hours passed by so fast. I didn't want it to end.
Now let me go listen to all my Linkin Park songs >_<

...About : sandRa Indonesia
![]() | |
Image from here |
sandRa is a band from Indonesia. They're not signed to any label, they're indie, that's why you've probably never heard of them.
Prior to discovering this band's music, I never understood the fuss about Indonesian bands. I mean yes, the bands from there that has made it big are good, no doubts about that. I understand now that Indonesian bands rocks. But I would say, we should look at the bands as who they are,as unique individual bands, not from where they come from.
Having said that, I came across the band sandRa during the redAMP screen test (which quite a number of other Indonesian bands got shortlisted for, they're never short of talent that country) Don't ask me why they're called sandRa when they're a bunch of guys >_< you can go read their profile on myspace or reverbnation. Or you can watch their screen test video, they answer that question in the video.
I watched their screen test, thought their song was nice. Managed to get their CD after that, listened to it, got hooked ever since. I started rooting for them since then. They made it to the top 10. During the voting period for the Top 3 finalist, their songs were constantly playing on my iTunes, looped >_< But sadly they did not make it to the finals :(
If you listen to their songs, you'd probably say, "Heh, they sound the same as the mainstream bands from Indonesia" See, that's the thing, they're just as good as the commercial mainstream bands. Maybe even better.
All I can say is, they make good music, they're unsigned, and I am officially a fan.
Owh yeah.

When I first heard Bruno Mars sing, in the song 'Nothing on You', by B.O.B. I melted I tell youuuuu. I don't know if he was actually the one who wrote the lyrics or not, but that voice, singing those words. Dayum.
![]() |
Image from here |
He's nothing much to look at mind you. He's not ugly, neither is he drop dead gorgeous. He's decent looking. But his voice, and the songs he sing. The lyrics. OH MY GAWD. Damn nice weih.
"Beautiful girls, all over the world, I could be chasing but my time would be wasted, cos they got nothing on you" What?! If I was single, and someone who was courting my says that to me, I'd fall for it, hook, line and sinker man. (provided that this song doesn't exist lar)

From his first single ,'Just The Way You Are'."When you smile, the whole world stops and stares for a while. Cos girl you're amazing, just the way you are." o_O
I'm going off to listen to it on loop okbaiz.

...About Urbanscapes 2010
I know this is a gila babeng outdated post bloody hell. No mood to blog lar nowadays. But here goes. Mostly pictures, not taken by me though.
It was my first time going to this event. Didn't know what to expect. Didn't even buy the tickets to watch the performances.
This year's 'Urbanscapes' sign is so darn ugly. You can't even see the word lar. No budget ka? Ignore the sesat boy in the pic.
For those of you who don't know what Urbanscapes is about. It's basically a day festival of arts, fashion and music. There's fashion bazaars where things are not exactly cheap, art pieces on display, and music performances throughout the day.
You can expect all kinds of fashion on all kinds of people..
Quirky stuff for sale or on display..
A friend said that the first ever Urbanscapes was the best. It was all about the music. Now, most people there are over dressed. They don't come for the music, they come to be seen. Oh well. We'll see who's performing next year. Maybe then I'll actually buy the ticket.
All pictures taken by Neoh Wee Ming (mau hire ka? drop a comment)
See ya next year... I think...maybe...I don't know.

...About redAMP's Are You ASEAN's Best Band?
The search is over. Golden Dragon from Yogyakarta, Indonesia has been crowned ASEAN's best band!
The top 3 bands that performed that night were truly Top 3! The were all great in their own way. Each band represented different genres, even different languages.
![]() | ||||
1st runner up, sixty-nine from Thailand. |
![]() |
3rd runner up, Pancake 80 from Philippines. |
I felt my stomach twist when the amp cable for the guitar came off during Pancake 80's guitar solo. I was like oh my gawd! The judges didn't get to hear that solo! That was one wicked solo man! Damn! The guitarist looked so disappointed he could cry. I felt so bad for him.

The stage. |
They all deserved to win. They were all good.
Golden Dragon stood above the rest for a few reasons. The obvious reason is the cosplay theme. They dress up as warriors when they perform. Another reason is that they sing in Mandarin. To me, the most important thing that made them stand out, was during their audition. When ask "Why do you think you are ASEAN's best band?" All the other bands said that this is the hardest question. But not Golden Dragon, the said "Ya, soalan ini ialah soalan yang kami nanti-nantikan" They have a vision, a mission, and they are going towards it fast.
Don't just take my word for it, go watch their audition videos to see how good they are. It'll be worth your time.
I wish the bands all the best, and keep on making good music.

...About Music
Back when I was in secondary school, I immersed myself with music. Conversations with friends are always about our favourite boybands, their albums, their new songs. Allowance was spent on magazine to keep up with the latest news.
Then, somewhere along the way I lost interest. I don't know whether it was because of the money issues as a student, the crazy workload, or the fact that I could never attend any shows/concerts because of the matriarch ruler of the house, but somehow, I lost touch with music.
The only part of music that I've kept in touch with til now is supporting Poetic Ammo religiously.
Recently I got blasted with music. I became a small part of RedAMP, the search for ASEAN's best band, brought to you by AirAsiaRedTix and MTV. I was part of the crew on duty for the screen test of the semi-finals.
The adrenaline rush and joy came flooding back. Plus the talents that day were all so good. It's like I got lost, then I found my place again.
It was a damn cool day filled with music. Meeting bands from all over South East Asia. They came from all walks of life, brought together with the love for music.
If you wanna know more about the contest, head on over to www.airasiaredtix.com and click on RedAMP. You can see the list of the semi-finalists. They're available on youtube, just search them. These bands are crazy talented. They will be reduced to 10 bands on the 23rd, and the public will vote for the top 3 finalist. Do you part in the search for ASEAN's best band!!
I'm looking forward to be part of this event til the end. Bring it!
All the best to the semi-finalist!

...About Glee
I've finished watching the first 13 episodes, and I love it long time!! It's such a great show! So relate-able. It's NOTHING like High School Musical. In fact, high school and music is where the similarities starts, and ends.
The stories are so real. Characters are real. Eventhough some characters are weird as hell, but we have to admit that people like that do exist. That's what I like the most about Glee, it's so real. Characters of all shapes, size and color.
The lead girl, Rachel, is not the stereotype skinny girl. She has a tummy! I think she and I have the same body type. Plus I love her clothes on the show. Cute. Except for the pantsuit and the cat suit >_<
Whenever I feel stressed out, I just watch an episode. Seriously, it cheers me up! I love episode 4. Can't wait for the rest of the season.
Oh and coolness! Random Alphabets is having a Glee Dance Flashmob! Click to go to their Facebook page to find out more!
Gleeks Unite!!
And no, as much as this SOUNDS like a paid post, it ain't.

...About: Zee Avi, KL Live@Life Centre, 20 March 2010
I haven't been to a performance in a long time. I wouldn't really call this a concert, the set was quite simple and personal. Makes the fans feel closer. It was just her, her instruments, a cello-ist, and a drummer. It was definitely 100% live and acoustic.
I didn't get to watch the whole thing, I missed a few songs. But I do know the first song she sang was 'Poppy' I really like the verse of the song, chorus not so. She performed most of the song from her album. Including some from her Kokokaina days and some new materials (read: I couldn't sing-a-long to).
It was quite a short set. About 50 minutes or so. But she did come back out for an encore and sang 'Monte'. Eventhough she was already half way through the press conference.Sorry all my pics are from weird views, I was moving around a lot.
She likes to make jokes in between her song, while she's introducing the next song and what not.
I dare say not many people has a shot of her from this view.
sound check yo
Full tank of petrol : RM50
Parking : RM4
Meeting Zee Avi, getting her autograph and snap a picture with her : Priceless.

...About Zee Avi
She writes about dark, sad, depresing stuff but sings it in a light soothing tone.
First single released here called 'Bitter Heart' about a housewife tired of waiting around but in an oh so sweet tune.
'Poppy' a jazzy blues number, about a heroine addict lover talking about how the poppy took her baby away.
She writes about being true to oneself even if it means being shunned from the crowd in 'Honey Bee'.
Perfect cd for meaningful soulful easy listening songs.
So that's what I think.
